Leading PPE supplier donate 930,000 face masks to children’s food charity

One of the UK’s leading PPE suppliers, Full Support, has partnered with children’s food charity Magic Breakfast to donate 930,000 face masks to schools and other educational facilities in the UK.

Since coronavirus first landed on UK soil in early 2020, the pandemic has brought more social and economic disruption than many of us anticipated.

Before the pandemic, as many as 1.8 million children at school in the UK were at risk of hunger in the morning. Then from March to August 2020, the Food Foundation reported that 14% of households with children in the UK now suffered from food insecurity, raising the figure from 1.8 million children to 2.3 million.

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn and offer expert support to their schools.

The charity works with over 960 Primary, Secondary, ASL/Special Educational Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units in disadvantaged areas of England and Scotland to offer free breakfasts to around 167,000 children – ensuring they start the day with the energy and nutrition needed to make the most of their morning lessons.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, Magic Breakfast has adapted its in-school breakfast provision model to offer take-home packs and home deliveries, ensuring that vulnerable children continue to receive a healthy start to the day during a time when they need it most. But adapting the programme is not the only difficulty schools and the charity have had to face this last year.

During this challenging time where school budgets are under huge strain anyway, the added expense of personal protective equipment such as face masks could mean the budget doesn’t stretch to other resources.

Full Support partnered with the team at Magic Breakfast to donate 930,000 Easimask Type II Face Masks to schools and other education facilities across the UK, protecting pupils, teachers and staff from COVID-19.

Within minutes of the team at Magic Breakfast sending out the email to their partner schools about Full Support’s donation of free PPE, they were inundated with replies of thanks and gratitude:

This is amazing – thank you.” – Partner School

This is great for schools – much appreciated!” – Partner School

That’s fantastic and will be very useful. We’ve implemented a mandatory face mask policy in all communal areas and also require parents to wear one when on site, so it’s much appreciated.” – Partner School

A huge heartfelt thank you to Full Support for your incredibly generous donation of 930,000 face masks, we are so very grateful for your invaluable support” – The Magic Breakfast Team

Regarding the donation, a representative of Full Support Healthcare said: “Magic Breakfast does such amazing and important work for some of the most vulnerable members of the nation and we at Full Support wanted to help out any way we could. We were delighted when the charity took up our offer to provide 930,000 face masks, allowing Magic Breakfast to further the support they can offer to their partner schools.”

With schools due to welcome back students on the 8th March, the need for face masks will soon increase. Full Support has a further £8million worth of items to donate to schools across the UK, so if your school could benefit from receiving free face masks, get in touch with Katie Mawston, kmawston@fullsupporthealthcare.com to request a donation.

Update – Please note, as of Nov 2021 school donations have now closed.
